Hi all! I am starting a newsletter and the June edition is almost here!
En. Day 7-Sun. My birthday is in August, but that month is so slow and so weird that is easy to get lost on these days. So basically my summers were all about going to camp, playing, reading, staying late,… and all of a sudden, celebrating a birthday that I didn´t remember in the first place.
Day 6- Guardian. I used to live in a place with a big tree on the garden, like a protector of the house. I cried so much the day we cut it down that my mom told me that its roots were getting so big that they were going to damage de house…this is more or less what I imagined she meant.
En- Day 5 - Shadows. Yep, I was afraid of the dark too (not a huge fan now, either). A shoutout to my parents for the many, many nights I woke them up because I saw whatever.
Day 4-Tale. I have this very vivid memory of my mom, leaving me in the living room with The Jungle Book on when I was like 3 or so, while she was doing the dishes. As soon as the film ended I started to cry like never before and I remember my mother coming and looking at me like: but kids love this movie! The truth is that I do and I did, but I have always found it so tragic because… if your best friends are a panther and a bear that sing, why would you leave them to go with a girl you don´t even know?
Day 3 - Universe
I used to go to a summer camp every year and my favourite part was at night, when we would go to an open field next to our rooms, through a path surrounded by cypresses, to see the Perseids and all the constellations I wasn´t able to see in the city. I have a terrible memory for Astronomy BUT a good imagination, that is what really counts, isn´t it?
Day 2-Tempting. In every grandparent’s house there is a forbidden room…and in our case, it was forbidden for a good reason: I still remember that crystal vase that didn’t survive to one of our games. But I didn´t tell you that because that never happened because no one can enter into the forbidden room, ok? So stop asking already!
This week I will be doing #childhoodweek , a challenge were we share some memories about our childhood through, in my case, illustrations. I hope you enjoy it!
Day 1-Magic. Like every kid, I was pretty obsessed with magic (well…I still am). One of my favourite games and maybe the most disgusting one was making potions out of mud, leaves and any kind of dirt I could find. Thankfully, I never tried any of them…maybe they worked, I guess we will never know.
